FedEx distribution center in the Bakken, middle of winter.

With the wind blowing, snow falling and temperatures reaching -40, there was still over 30,000 CY’s of frost and dirt to move on the critical FedEx network infrastructure project.

We assisted our customer in the site selection process as well as the pre-construction budgeting process for the site involving 12 acres and a 24,000 sq. ft building. Work scope elements included over 30,000 CY’s of excavation and over 50,000 tons of import gravel products placed. Fills required pre-heating and conditioning to eliminate frost while maintaining moisture requirements. The project required 24/7 heating to keep both the equipment and ground moving. Earthwork, underground utilities, site concrete and building foundation were all completed on time and safely.
